Samantha Wagner of Windermere and Orlando’s Tae Wan Lee will represent the East at next month’s Wyndham Cup team matches, named among 32 of the nation’s top juniors who will compete July 23-26 at Bay Hill Club & Lodge.

Lee owns four top-6 finishes in the past three months, watching his name rise in the Polo Golf Rankings all the way to No.12 this week. He tied for second at last week’s Western Junior Championship in South Florida and was third at last month’s Thunderbird Invitational in Phoenix.

Wagner is 20th in this week’s girls rankings, finishing no lower than 16th in seven AJGA starts since last August. She won the Exide Technologies Junior Open two months ago in Georgia, with a runner-up finish at the Kathy Whitworth Invitational earlier this year.

Two other Floridians were named to the East squad – Boca Raton’s Jaye Marie Green and Bradenton’s James Yoon.

The Wyndham Cup is an East-West team competition matching squads of 10 boys and 10 girls in a Ryder Cup-style format. Last year’s East victory, with contributions from both Green and Yoon – ended a six-year losing streak to the West.

The West squad includes Beau Hossler of Mission Viejo, Calif., who made headlines two weeks ago when he briefly held the U.S. Open lead in its second round.

Two more boys and girls will be added to each team following completion of this week’s Rolex Tournament of Champions in suburban Atlanta.
